
Criteria for Environmentally Sustainable Practices
Starting from the 9th Certification Review (2025), we will introduce new criteria related to “Environmentally Sustainable Practices. ” This addition is based on the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ 2024 guidelines: “Four Key Points for a Diet That Supports Our Future and the Planet, ” which outline minimum environmental considerations expected in daily eating habits.
If the criteria are met, the applicant will be granted the “Environmental Mark.”

These new criteria are self-declared by the applicant and apply to meals that have received Smart Meal® certification or to establishments that offer Smart Meal®.
The Consortium does not conduct a separate review for these criteria. Accordingly, the system is based on self-reporting and registration by applicants.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
